Zoe Kravitz recently spoke with MTV News about her time working on Insurgent, how this movie differs from the first, and why Jennifer Lawrence would beat both her and Shailene Woodley in a fight.
Kravitz first talks about Tris and Christina's changing relationship in the second installment of the Divergent Series, saying,
The audience sees what happens to Will in the first film, but Cristina doesn’t know yet. She doesn’t know that Tris has anything to do with what happened to Will. At the beginning of the film, she’s excited to see Tris again and she’s hopeful that Will is still out there somewhere, hiding. When she learns that Will is in fact dead and that it was Tris who killed him, it starts a huge problem between Tris and Cristina, and affects their friendship.
She continued to say that her and Shailene are in the middle of filming a confrontation scene between Tris and Christina, which they both find somewhat difficult to do.
It’s hard pretending to be mad at someone that you’re not mad at, but I think we understand the importance of our friendship, and we can both imagine what would happen if we didn’t have that anymore. That, I think, helps us understand what this rift is doing to Tris and Cristina; what the gravity of that is.
Later she says that Insurgent is less explanatory than Divergent and develops more layers of characters and stories, which make the film much deeper and more meaningful. Then, after categorizing her cast mates into their respective factions, she ended the interview by answering the question of who would win a fight between herself, Shailene, and close friend Jennifer Lawrence:
Not me, probably [laughing]. I don’t know, that’s a hard question. They’re both really talented fighters; really strong people. Maybe Jen [would win], because I feel like she would cheat. She’s from the south — she would get down. And Shailene’s very peace and love, so.
What do you think, Initiates? Are you looking forward to seeing the tension between Christina and Tris? Sound off in the comments.
