Kate Winslet in talks to join the Divergent Movie Franchise

Newly appointed director of the Divergent Movie, Neil Burger, is casting up a storm! First he picks Shailene Woodley as our Tris and now in talks to get Kate Winslet. Go, Neil, go!

Summit Entertainment through it's official twitter confirmed the casting and then it was later deleted. The ink must not be on the deal yet. Variety reported that Kate Winslet in talks for the role in Divergent, but what part could she be seeking? With the movie being mostly younger actor and actresses, it narrows it down some. And this quote from Variety also makes me believe that it's a role that makes it past movie 1 of the trilogy, but that's just my opinion.

Though Winslet is no stranger to starring in a big-budget-tentpole, the film would mark her first opportunity at a possible franchise.

At first I thought Mrs. Natalie Prior, Tris's Mom. Doesn't she look like Shailene in the photo above? But then the quote stopped me in my thought process. Could she be our Jeanine Matthews?

Kate's hair color also doesn't help us cause she has been every color under the sun!

My first assumption was that she would be Natalie, but I think I would actually like to see her as Jeanine. She a great actress - it's really exciting that she's in talks.

Comment by Steele Sheen on January 24, 2013 at 7:24pm: whoahhhh! it would be awesome if they manage to get Winslet onboard. and unless they will do major rewrites of characters a powerhouse name like hers has to be for one of the main roles, and i'm definitely thinking about Jeanine.

although Tris' mom is quite pivotal in the Divergent story, and i can see the writers amping up her part even more so for the film so who knows.
